red river ky snake id ?

Agree, hard to see on the picture, but probably Lampropeltis ruthveni or L. triangulum campbelli.
Beautiful animals

I'm not familiar with the KY variants, and it's tough to say from the picture; but I'm used to seeing thicker black bands on the scarlet kings. Could also be a red milk snake (or even an eastern).
Either way, it's nonvenomous; and hardly a "beast".

Not really likely in KY, unless it was a former pet. I believe both of those subspecies are native to Mexico.

Red milk snake is definitely a possibility, I do see some saddles. I thought king snake because I've seen a few in the red river gorge back in my twenties.... Many, many moons ago.....

I think it's a milk snake. We got them as well. Both helpful and harmless. I think they eat rodents, less rodents less overall trouble IMHO.

My daughter was camping in KY and saw this beast, anyone know what it it, Red river area.

Hey thanks everyone :) I actually did find an ID online, definitely is a Red Milk Snake. He was a tiny little guy we found on a Disc Golf course, maybe he will be a giant 'beast' one day ;) He was striking at my shoe with gusto so he is definitely a survivor!! Thanks Dad for posting!!!
