Over Thanksgiving I was letting my daughter and cousins shoot my old Red Ryder bb gun and one of my little cousins loved it so much he has been asking for one for Chritmas. The one I have is at least 25 years old and still shoots as great as the day I got it. I'm wondering if anyone has bought one recently and knows if the're still good quality. I read that there made in china now which is disappointing but as long as it's not cheaply made and doesn't fall apart I'd still like to get him one. Anyone have any experiance with a newer one?

Bought my 12 year old one for Christmas last year and she had a blast with it this summer...First 5-10 shots went through one side of a 5 gallon bucket!! Then it slowed down a bit and just bounced off the side....Had it out 3-4 times this summer and its still working fine...Can't beat it for $20.00 at wally world

Got one of the new ones a few months to do some fun plinking with the nephews, but broke the plastic lever the first week... Maybe you should look into the Daisy model 25. I've also got one of those and I like it much more.

They shoot OK, be careful with the lever, and you have to shake it a few times with the muzzle to the sky to get the BB to feed. If you can find one, get the '94 Winchester modeled BB gun. Much better quality, can pop a squirrel's head at 20 yards easy. Discontinued unfortunately. :(

That's disappointing. Oh well maybe I'll give him a pocket knife instead. Thanks for the feedback.

Obviously, if it breaks right away that sucks. But for $25 bucks it can provide a lot of fun for a kid. If you want to splurge, the Daisy Avanti Champion is supposedly the worlds most accurate bb gun but its $125.

I've had a great run with my Crossman what-ever model over the years. I even cleaned and oiled it once!

My older one (11 years ago) works wonderfully and remains one of my most prised childhood possessions. Try ebay or gunshops, and see if they have any new, old stock. Well worth tracking down.

In the meantime, I sure loved playing with my wrist rocket! They make a new one now that I ordered for myself this year, because honestly I still enjoy the same things I did at 12 as much today ;)

It's called the wrist rocket pro, about $35 on amazon, made in the USA, and rocks are free to shoot.

I picked up a RR at Wally world about a year ago for 30$. I shoot it all the time with friends and family, everyone loves it...
