Red spacer material other than the usual?

Could you recommend a material other than red vulcanized fiber that is stable and has a good solid red color?

I have used red G-10 but because G-10 is translucent the color changes when sandwhiched between the tang and handle material.
Another red material that I looked into appeared to be a fiber material sandwhiched between plastic. It was so advertised as being stable but it was so brittle that I deemed it unacceptable for my needs.

I also would like to hear about any spacer materials that you like to use regardless of color?

Thanks
Tim

pops has .010 red liners material. Very hard to find anymore. I put the knife together. Then take the super thin super glue and go all the way around several times it will wick it up in it never had a problem even with some of my own kitchen knifes that get thrown in water for extended periods of time.

I have heard of some using "Dixie" plastic plate material when they had to have it in a pinch. They are some bright red ones available.

Rick I'll give the super glue process you described a try on my set of knives I'm in yhr process of making. It sounds like that maybe a solution that will seve me well. I'll let you how it works out.
The red dixe material sounds interesting.
I was wondering if there is someone who produces a red micarta thin enough to be used as a liner. I know of the G-10 thats available but the translucent color does not give me that bright red when paired with ironwood, as an example.

I dont know if this will help, or if its even an option. I have some super dark red blood wood as well as some lighter shades -that i can use as a spacer ( if stabilized you can get it fairly thin). Also I have some deep deep red burmese rosewood ( although not a true rosewood) that also may work. Pink ivory has many different shades as does narra ( aka amboyna non burl-or even in the burl you can find nice red areas that arent "burly"figured). Thank you-Marekz

marekz I like your idea of using a stabilized piece of wood as a liner. I knew I would get some creative ideas from members of the forum. This gives me some food for thought.
