Yesterday I found out that my local store had started to sell Victorinox knives ^^ .There I saw a Huntsman with Silver Tech scales and I fell in love with it :-Q_ But then I thought that one of the characteristics that make a SAK is the red color. While Silver Tech looks cool, a SAK with Silver Tech scales doesn't look like a real SAK to me :D So what is your favorite scales? Red or Silvertech?

I only collect the silvertech series... they come in huntsman, climber, spartan and classic with led flashlight and pen.. they're great for looking around or EDC once in a while, but i still pocket a small tinker with ordinary red cellidor.. :)

same case with all the translucent scale.. i collect most of them, but still only EDC the ordinary red or black cellidor hehehe... to bad the white is pretty rare, i used to carry a white one and it looks beautiful.

i love them all, but the famous red cellidor got the most pocket time hehehe.

I keep a red cellidor Victorinox Ranger handy. I carry a blue Star of David Classic on my keychain. My EDC SAK is a red alox Farmer. Variety is the spice of life. :)

I like variety and own SAKs in the following colors

Red
Translucent Ruby
Blue
Translucent Sapphire
Silver Tech
Black
White
Camo

Plus several alox models, all in silver.

I really have a thing for the white cellidor models. But I like black and Silver Tech quite a bit as well. I confess being a bit bored by traditional red and will usually pick another color first.

I'd like to get a Stayglow model or two.

I have a Climber with Silver Tech scales and a few others with translucent scales, but when I carry a non-alox SAK, it's mostly one with the red scales.

Except for a OH Trekker, which comes only in black, all my SAKs are red. To me, SAKs are all about a perfect marriage of beauty and function. The color red is not only attractive, but serves the purpose of increased visibility if the SAK is dropped amongst foliage or other natural ground cover. Even the trademark Swiss cross has purpose as a field expedient vampire repellent; not quite equal to a larger one maybe, but any multi-tool is a compromise :D .

I like the red for visibility. But the blue and black look cool too. I want to check out the stay glow handles sometime.

Silver Tech is a little too conspicuously techie-looking for my taste, but I'm tempted to get one in my favorite 91mm pattern (Spartan) for a backup. Red, especially in nylon, is nice; but I think I like black best. A black SAK still looks like a SAK, even to non-knife sheeple, and it's elegant. I bought my ex a purple Classic for her birthday. It's a really nice color for a small keychain knife. It inspired me to get a purple Fenix E01 for EDC.

yeah victorinox must consider it as a tool for vampire hunting :D i will go with my red scales till the day they will be broken. then i may buy silver tech scales after that. silver tech looks awsome but i love the simplycity of red scales. silver tech makes the knife so shiny that you don't want to use it :D
