That was an excellent, comprehensive comparison. Thank you. Makes me want to get a CLA to try it out.

Does the safety on your TR3 lock the button so that the blade can't accidentally close when it's supposed to be locked in the open position? Benchmade's safeties are designed for this use case. There have been a couple of threads here specific to the TR4 where owners said the safety doesn't lock the button while the blade is in the open position. Some do, but some don't. I recall ProTech's response was that they aren't designed to lock the blade open, but they still offered exchanges or fixes for customers who really wanted that feature.

Excellent review, thanks for taking the time and effort! I've not handled the CLA but have been a big fan of the Protech TR's. I've had the TR2, 3 and 4. The only one I didn't take to was the TR-4 and that was just because it was too big for my needs. I have to agree with you on all your views on the Protech except for the blade deployment. I enjoy the strong fire on the Protech's, except on the runt. It just about comes out of your hand when it fires. I've also never cared for a safety on my auto's. Never had one accidentally open but I have had one that would sometimes be locked when I tried to open it.

Again, thanks for the review!
