It's hard to beat the beauty of Case's older red dyed bone handles. Many cutleries have made reddish bone, but none have managed to capture that special look, IMHO!
Here are some examples of XX, XX U.S.A, and one 10Dot.

These knives went on an interesting trip. I lent them to a cutlery to use as a model for the bone style and color, late last year. We'll see how that unfolds soon (pun intended)!

I just love the barlow. With the plain unjigged scales, you can see the subtle different shading in the bone and how the dye took. Somehow makes it look a little richer, vibrant.

Yes, those older Cases had better finish. They were special back then.

Hi waynorth. Those are beautiful knives. I really like the old CASE redbone. Unfortunately, I do not own one myself.

This old Christopher Johnson Western Works redbone is so dark it looks black except for the little bit of red showing in the top left of the first photo. It is actually not quite as black as the photo shows. The bone is in excellent condition and so is the snap open and closed. As you can see, there is lots of corrosion on the blades. I resited the temptation to clean them. I like it the way it is.

Contrast that beautiful color to the "fire engine red" of today's Red Bone offerings, and it's no wonder the older knives are so highly sought after.

Nice s-k! As you know by now, I am fond of old knives showing their age, and you show us some beauties! The subtle red edges have an attraction of their own.

Whoa... that is a gorgeous collection, Waynorth. Thanks for the pic! I love the older Case red bone.

Nice.

Case knives aren't common in Mexico, the only ones that I have seen here are a 6165L that I bought in Houston in 1977, and a small two blade Jackknife, very much like the top one in your picture, that my father bought for my younger brother in California in 1967.

I can't decide which one I like most from your picture, probably the two blade jack with the sheepfoot second from bottom.

Very nice red bones... It will be interesting to see if the company you sent them to can match the coloring. I don't know why the new Case red is so much different.

Some good lookin Cases there, Charlie! There's a deeper, warmer feeling to that old bone. LOL, wish my old bones had a deep warm feeling in them. ;) I doubt they look that good either.
