Redesigning the Logo?

When I look at the Spyderco logo I'm always reminded of a toad with a wing nut right and left. Spiders simply don't look like that. Is there any chance the logo could be changed to something more "contemporary" and elegant?

It could make a nice forum contest.

. I find the overweight spider rather endearing. What's more my kids have learnt to recognise it, so much so that the first thing they ask about a knife is "Does it have a spider?"

My wife reakons it looks like a crab but I think it looks like a great spider even if it has been stamped on

Please don't change the existing logo...I'm really quite fond of that spyder. It is simple and immediately recognizable.
 
I, too, like the spyder. I have always wondered, however, if the little critter had a name...

I hate to say it, but I must agree with David Rock. It looks like a tick.

But, I wouldn't want it changed; too much history behind it now. Like BM now putting "Benchmade" in the center of their butterfly now, instead of "Bali-Song"! Whaddup wi' dat?!

But hey, you can ask them a straight question on their own forum and never receive a reply, so I suspect the rationale for both name/logo changes will be lost in the mists of time.

A "spyder" is a light weight two-seat roadster, as in the Alfa Romeo Spyder Veloce. As for the Spyderco logo, be nice, people, some of us look rather like that spyder.
