I picked this sweetie up the other day for less that $80. The ad for it at Bass Pro shop says the steel is 420HC, but the blade on mine is etched Bos 154-CM.

This is a stock photo and doesn't show the etch. Mine came in a LE box with a brown basketweave sheath.

"A Bass Pro Shops® Exclusive!
Designed by our Pro Team and Buck family member Chuck Buck. 3-1/2" 420HC stainless steel blade, sharply angled skinning point, natural elk slab handle with custom file work. Includes basket-weave leather sheath. Made in USA."

Nice knife. Would love to see some pictures of yours and the sheath if you get a chance.

If we ever get any sunshine here again (over 5" of rain in the last three days), I'll be taking my own pics.
What excited me about it was that it turns out to be 154-CM rather than the advertised 420HC.

Ive considered that Redhead series before and was wondering since they get listed with the Bucks if they were just made for BPS or are stamped Buck somewhere on the knife. No BPS's anywhere near me to go check it out.:grumpy:

Pleasant surprise.....yeah, VERY pleasant.

Probably would have been a loud celebration at my house.

Congrats.

:)

The backside is etched (not stamped) with Buck, then the anvil under that, custom under that, then U.S.A. Then it has the flame symbol and Bos 154-CM.
I remember when I first saw them on the BPS site. I came here and asked if they were made by Buck because at that time it said only that it was designed by their Pro Team and Chuck Buck. Now the title of the ad says "By Buck" and I don't remember it saying that before.

Thanks Plum-good info.

I was wrong about the ad title. I found the original thread and someone at that time pointed out that the title said "by Buck".

Another thread that I remember was Joe saying that they were no longer stamping the steel type but etching it because the higher quality steel didn't like being stamped both sides or something to that effect.
