Anyone have any experience with the Cabelas
Redi-edge. Im looking for a good pocket
sharpener, any others worth looking at??

THANKS FORDMAN

If it is one of those weird pull through contraptions, I wouldn't use it. If you want a pocket sharpener, I suggest you learn to freehand sharpen properly and then buy some small flat sharpening stones. Arkansas stones work really well if you know how to sharpen. Use a soft Arkansas (coarser) to start, and then finish with a hard Arkansas. If you can, get a black hard Arkansas. I think http://www.DiscountKnives.com sells lots of sharpeners... look under their sharpeners section, see if anything there looks useful.

Take care,

BTW, welcome to the forum. I see this is your first post. You'll find that everyone here is eager to help out by answering questions. Using the search function will help you find information first, and it is generally suggested that you search to see if your question has been previously asked or covered.

As for the Cabelas Redi-Edge, what is it? I've seen many of those quick pocket sharpeners, and the majority (like 90%) of them really suck.

Lansky www.lansky.com , has a few pocket sharpeners that would work well for touching up an edge that is getting a little dull. I wouldn't want to try to set a bevel with them though, since the ceramic rods are pretty fine.
