Rediscovering my A1

I seldom buy new knives these days as I'm pretty satisfied with my collection, I have knives in abundance for every thinkable situation. It's more common for me to rediscover what I have rather than finding a new knife I "need" to purchase.

The reason I got to look at my A1 with new eyes is that I reprofiled the the edge to a more steep angle, the edge is now super sticky and sharp af. Using DMT extra coarse/coarse/fine/spyderco benchstone fine grit and strop with 1 micron/0,25 micron diamond spray I'm left with some scratches but I dont care. Function over form.

I also bought the new A1nez sheath, 20$ with shipping. A lot less rattling and the button strap is history. I think I like the more streamlined look of the old sheath but the new one def is an upgrade.

👍 Not the only knife that is improved by removing some bloat from behind the edge.

Did you take any measures to keep the thickness symmetric left to right, and even front to back, or did you just eyeball it?

All eyeballing, have done this on a couple of knives now.

The worst was the BRKT bushcrafter. Came super thick bte. And 3V was a bitch to reprofile on benchstones. But after a couple of hours I was very happy with the result.

I love it - looks like Buck, Cold Steel and Mora came together to design a very utilitarian knife. What is this knife exactly?

My Buck 119 has been my favorite around the house lately. Can easily hone it up.

It's the Fällkniven A1, it's got a 6mm spine thickness so it's pretty overbuilt, but chopping and batoning is sooooo much fun with this one!

My exact plan for an original Carbon V SRK, a knife with a similar profile. Well done!!

I re-profiled my Carbon V SRK as the factory edge was way too obtuse. Worked it back with a fine file then hit the DMTs. Ended up with a convex edge that is scary sharp. Well worth the effort.

Some advice for anyone who wants to buy a nez sheath for theire original F1/S1/A1. There are some sharp edges in the sheath shaving of the kraton finger guard when drawing the knife out.

These need to be filed down so they are smoothe.

Just wanted to share this info.

The tool and area that needs to be smoothed out(on the inside):

Also I reinforced the fingerguard with 3 layers of superglue:
