This is a very rare and collectible Harley-Davidson 90th Anniversary Gerber Knife. This is not one of the 3,000 knives that Gerber made for Harley's 90th in 1993. This is one of the Limited Editions of only 500 knives that were produced in 1992 for H-D by Gerber. This knife is serial number 43. That number is engraved on the guard as 043/500, and also appears on the included Certificate of Authenticity. This knife is highly sought after by collectors of Harley-Davidson Anniversary knives, and Gerber collectors alike.
The blade is made of high carbon steel, finished in a deep blued chrome with Gold and Silver etching. The handle is made of Pink Ivory wood. The oval scrim in the handle is Mastodon Ivory (over 2,000 years old), the guard and butt cap are both solid yellow brass with white brass and black fiber spacers. The knife is 13 ½ inches in overall length.
The box is hand rubbed American Walnut, with beveled glass. The 3 hinges are brass. It has a magnetic catch to close. The interior is Camel velvet, and the Plaque is Walnut with beige flock. Included are the brass u-bolt and nuts for holding the knife onto the plaque when mounted on the wall. Although this knife has never been displayed or hanged. It is as complete (including the original packaging) as the day it was purchased, and in the same new condition. You will see a bit of a patina on the brass from storage and age. I will leave it for the new owner to clean and polish.
