So about two years ago I decided I wanted a truly custom sword made to my specifications by Reese Weiland.

Just today it finally arrived and it did not disappoint. It is an inspired strange hybrid of a Naval Cutlass and a Chinese broadsword (Willow Leaf).

It is made from .200 thick 56 HRC 5160 spring steel, the tang being tempered back to about 47 HRC, with a sharpened false edge, it's 31" OAL, 24" long blade, 23" cutting edge, and weighs 2 pounds 12 ounces . The guard is .250 thick 416 stainless steel, as is the pommel. The handle material being contoured and lightly bead blasted g10. It balances about my palms width in front of the guard, and handles very well and feels lighter than it is.

It truly is an amazing piece that exceeded my expectations, but there is one problem. Neither Reese or I ever thought of a name for it, if you guys would be so generous as to help me think of one, that would be appreciated. It should be something classy, befitting of one of a kind sword. Always remember when it comes to Reese Weiland blades, "the only limit is your imagination."

Why not Reesemourne? you know.. like a cross between the frostmourne sword from wrath of the lich king in world of warcraft, only it was designed by reese weiland!

That's a very well made sword. Reese did a great job, first, keeping the weight so low was a feat, and second, the fit and finish looks great. 5160 is also an excellent steel for swords, one of my favorites. As for a name, wish I could help but..

Nice design. Careful, customs can be addictive...

Perhaps the overall weight is a bit more than I would have personally liked, but if you like the way it handles then that's more important than an absolute weight.
