Reeve interview

Not heard that before. There was lots of good info in there, thanks

Listening to it now, thanks for the link.

And hung on every minute as though it were a previously- unreleased live Derek and the Dominoes live album. :)

Thanks for posting the link. Chris Reeve and Bob Loveless are my cutlery industry heros.

Thanks for the headzup. CR dropped the bombshell that the hollow handle one piece design is on it's way out. That's some valuable investor information. Get 'em while you can. Think 299 is too much? Wait 'til they're unavailable... :D

Get some!!! :o

I loved the story behind the one-piece models. For whatever reason, I thought they were now being rough-shaped here in the US. It's neat that CRK did not want to pull the task away from its "hometown."

I was impressed with what he had to say about the Umnumzaan. He seemed sincere about incorporating lessons learned from the Sebenza into the new design. He was also very candid about buying one "because it's the latest and greatest" and he "needs to pay off the tooling". :D

I hope this interview gets tacked in the forum. I think it dispels some of the mystique that surrounds his products and shows that while he does make top quality products, he's not afraid to make concessions (like the switch to S30V) to reduce his costs and increase production.

Well, I think I am going to have to drive to Boise now, just to watch my knife being sharpened and tuned....... good thing its only about 4 hours.:D

It's awesome how the Rambo movie helped greatly with his one piece sales.

Sweet. A small Umnum is in the works.

T.K.C. will be pleased.

I am extremely pleased, too. I started a "support thread" for a small Umnum and someone posted that a little birdie told him that Mr. Reeve said there would never be one--which pretty much killed the thread right there. Now it appears that once the kinks are worked out and machines paid off for the large, a small should follow sometime thereafter. Great news!

Listened to the whole thing. My favorite part "If I stopped producing the Sebenza... I think I'd go bankrupt."

This interview actually pushed me over the edge towards to purchase of an Umnumzaan. I like it when someone of Chris Reeve's "Rock Star" status keeps things into perspective. The admission that his folding knives are a "big guys, big girls toy" is right on. It shows that he is still humble, even while being one of the world most recognized knife makers.

Great interview, and it pushed me over the edge to ordering a small sebenza. I'd been thinking about it for some time, but after listening I just thought "I want to buy a knife from that man."
