Can anyone tell me about a Reeve fixed blade, LDC-9 black? St. James, can you field this one?
Thanks!
Barry H

The LDC-9 is a Sebenza model. Les Robertson had some of them covered with a black coating (I'm not sure what was used) after receiving them from CRK and selling them to the public. This was frowned upon by CRK because of concerns regarding the tolerances on the parts of the knife.

I think the coating was Black-T which is a baked on finish.

Les also voided the warranty from CRK when he did this so if you buy one I would plan on keeping it as a collectable and not a user.

Do a search of the forums and enter "Reeve LDC Robertson" and you should find all of the threads from about 2-3 years ago. Plan a good hour or two to read everything.

Thanks, James and Chad,
I had seen that Les was about ready to post one of these things on his site--just curious.........

Here's a pic. . .

This is a LDC-109 with "the black Ti coating." :D

Sorry for editing. . . Anyway, the only thing that was coated was the blade (and thumbstud). Did the coating hinder the operation of the knife ~ not that I experienced. Did it kill the warrantee. . .yes but I'm sure that you could get one of these worked on if it needed work !

Personally. . .

I would have loved to see a black blade, black scales and high polished screws/thumbstud. :D

Gig one,
I bet you could get Body Coat to do that job in Boron carbide...
just a thought,

That's a thought Barry. . .but alas. . .this particular knife doesn't reside with me anymore. :(

Think that it would have been cool if it would have came (originally) with black blade, black scales, and high polished screws and thumbstud.

Could I do it now. . .yeah.

Cooler if it came in a limited edition (tactical) from CRK or Les. :D

:D
