Hi i have just bought a matching pair (5/200) of the one piece integral knives. It is awesome to see on the same blade the 2 stamps or logos. The bit that puzzles me is that the great Al Mar passed away in the mid nineties and these were made in 99. If anyone has some info on these i would be most grateful (i thought i would turn to over the pond were it happens in the knife world) legislation over here is getting crazy!!
Thanks Paul

Great knife design. Basically, it is a CRK Sable with a few Al Mar suggestions for a more aggressive style: double guard, serrations, and the penetrator tip. I don't know when they got together to discuss it, but you can see Chris continued production for a while.

this should answer your questions,

Jules

Chris Reeve Knives 1999
Chris has admired Al Mar's designs for many years and always considered his early work to be of classic lines. (By way of interest, we had known each other for less than a week when he gave me a tiny Al Mar folder that, 16 years later, I still carry in my purse everyday!) We have also known Gary Fadden, who is now CEO of Al Mar Knives, for years and, at various times, had discussed a collaboration of some kind.

We finally came to the point where we decided that we would both benefit from a joint project and this is the way it worked. We designed the knives, made them entirely and sold them all to Al Mar Knives. They then distributed them into the market.

Just for the record, the knives were fixed blades in our one piece concept, 200 in each size - blade lengths of 7.5", 5.5" and 4". All the knives were numbered and marked with our CR logo and the Al Mar chop. The sheaths also had both logos.
These knives, as with all our one piece fixed blades, are made of A2, heat treated to 55-57RC and the caps are of D65S aluminum and the sheaths are leather.

I have 4" 135/200 by my side at this moment. It's a user though so it's not as pretty as it used to be...
