Refinish Sebby Clip?

Well I carried my new large classic for the first time today and managed to scratch the clip. I've purchased new clips in the past and it's getting expensive. I've got a bead blaster and have used glass beads in the past on other items but it leaves a bright finish. Is there a medium to use that will closely match the original CRK finish?

CRK uses aluminum oxide grit. Personally, I like the bead blast better... Sure I like the grip of a new seb, but since I've had a sm.seb for a while and a few new sebs have passed through or stayed in my possession, I REALLY REALLY REALLY perfer the "finish" regular use has applied to my EDC of two years.

Thanks arch, actually, I prefer black clips for less conspicuity, however, I can live with a grey clip in order to carry my Sebenzas but don't like the scratches I acquire.

Arch is right. After a while the clip will have it's own unique patina. It gives it charachter. The first few scratches are a killer.

I too have a bead blast cabinet and after carrying my first small classic for a while decided to blast it. I blasted the scales and clip and liked it even better. It actually showed less wear while carrying it after this. I traded it after 2 years of EDC but took it apart and blasted it again before shipping. I told the person it was edc for 2 years and sent pic's. When he received it he couldn't believe it. He wrote back saying how happy he was and stated that looked like new. I say do it yourself. I think you will like it. And at the worst send it back and have it done by CRK.

Some of you guys with blasters might want to try ceramic media sometime. Kit Carson, Mike Obenauf, John Smith and others use this on their bolsters and sometimes the blades. Trick is, you ought to sand off the existing finish. CRK's finish is probably between #120 and 150 grit alum ox. It works great to hide out minor defects in the manufacturing of the handles. With the ceramic media, you ought to go through the sanding grits and then finish with Zirblast B40 or B60. This leaves a very attractive finish that takes a lot of effort to scratch.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I ordered some 240 grit from Brownell's (before reading the last post about CRK using 120-150). I can use the finer grit to touch up the cylinder on my S&W 360 titanium as well. If it turns out to be too fine for my Sebenzas I guess I can always use glass bead over it.
