using a dremel and sandpaper, i fit the scales to the liners and removed the tooling marks on the visible portions.

the 45 was taken to a med polish, the 8 i left satin.

i love my emersons, but this is really how they should be coming from the factory.

i also made both a v grind, though the bevels are small. i also polished the edges on both.

enjoy!

looks great! I also wish Emersons came like that lol, though I stopped caring about the chisel grind.

what did you use for the nice polished edge?

edge pro apex.

the refinishing took me a while since i was doing it all with a dremel and paper. if i had a belt sander, i probably could have done both knives in a few minutes.

The tooling marks don't really bother me, they add a little character. The mirror polished edges are nice.

they've never bothered me either.

that is, until i removed them. it started as just making the scales and liners the same size. that has always irked me a bit, but not so much so that i complained about it.

once i realized the tooling marks could be removed relatively easily, i kept going.

Very, very nice.

An impressive display of manual dexterity and determination.

Those knives are much better for your 'treatment.':)

thx jamie. :o

i think determination played a larger part than dexterity. one of those projects that couldn't be stopped once i started.

still needs a little touching up, but im happy with the overall look.
