Joe Houser, of Buck Knives Inc., saw my post regarding my Model 184, and asked me to send him my trashed Buck 184 from the 80's, that had seen a lot of work and abuse. I tried to locate my old pics of this poor workhorse, to show just what bad shape it was in, but, unfortunately I couldn't find them. Needless to say though, it was beyond salvage in my opinion.
I was going to offer it up for sale for $25 as a "beater", until I decided to post in the Buck forum for some assistance, and Joe intervened. I mailed it off to him on June 25th.
Well folks, I just got it back from Buck today (only 10 days after mailing it to Joe). I was stunned! This baby has been risen from the dead! It is like new! Unbelievable. They reground, refinished, and resharpened it razor sharp for me for, get this.....$10 bucks!
I told Joe that I was naming it "Lazarus" in honor of its re-birth.
Seldom have I ever had such outstanding and "over-the-top" customer service that I experienced with Joe Houser and Buck Knives. This is one "stand-up" company in my book! But companies are only as good as the people that make them up, and in this case, the spotlight is directed on a "stand-up" guy, Joe Houser and his "stand-up" team at Buck.
Thanks again Joe and the Buck team. Because of you this Model 184 is ready for another 25 years of SWAT duty...wish I could say the same for me.
The re-born Model 184 "Buckmaster"!
