I scratched a blade up today and have been trying to refinish it with various things around the house. I've achieved a pretty good shinier finish, but in the right light, you can see all the tiny scratches from my polishing. What's the easiest way to do this? (154cm)

Okay I am not an expert but I do like to polish things from car finishes, to gemstones to metal. On metal I use the same basic tools I use to block out the finish on a car. I have hard plastic forms but you can use a paintstick too as they will bend a bit where needed. I start with 350 wet/dry black silicone "sandpaper" and get all of the finish done to that grit. I do this with the paper wet. The last strokes all have to go the same direction across the blade for the best results. Follow with wet 600 grit and get all of the 350 grit marks out and end the same direction. Follow with wet 1200 grit and remove the 600 grit marks. I have gone to wet 2000 but I can't see the difference in the end product so I stop at 1200 now. I then switch over to metal polish and I prefer "Heavy Metal" from Les Shwaubs tire store using the white very fine finish. I wear nytril type gloves so that I don't sand too much skin off or turn my fingers black when polishing..... I like to "smooth" all of the hard lines on the knives I do and they look and feel really smooth. I have taken scratched up black finish knives and changed them into mirror finished ones that look new. I just changed a beat up black Colt Tactical over to a mirror finish today. A side benefit is the polished knives actions are so smooth when finished. The Colt has a finger starter and had a thumb stud but it is so smooth opening I can start it with the finger starter and flick my wrist at the same time and it "snaps" open. It is not so loose that it can just be flicked open so it is very sheeple friendly too..... I removed the thumb stud so it is pocket friendly too.....
