I've been using paracord for a variety of things for years: lanyards, rigging around the campsite, sailing, and whitewater boating.

I recently got some reflective paracord from Eric @ ratknives.com and this stuff is cool! Maybe you don't want to use it for a lanyard when you expect to "covertly deanimate" someone :jerkit: but for my purposes, losing stuff around the campsite, this cord is great.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but with the slightest amount of light, the reflective part of the card just "pops" out at you. It doesn't seem to effect the strength of the cord, nor does it seem to burn any differently when you seal the end. I can't think of anything I use 550 cord for that I wouldn't rather use this cord.

Enjoy!

(And, "no", I have no financial interest in the company that makes it! :p It's just "that" cool!)

Howdy,
Cool idea. Is the tensile strength the same (550)? Just so you know, were not "mall ninjas". The reason paracord is black or OD green is that it wouldn't do to use reflective cord if you used it for what it was ment for. Namely jumping out of a plane. Otherwise it just cord, not para-cord. parachute+cord=Paracord......:D Just messing with you.

Har har.. You got me. ;) My brother was a member of a Chair Force Combat Control team; six years older than me. I was never a "hard-core, high-speed" individual. I do have a great deal of respect for the work they did - he was on a team in Panama during the Noriega period.

All of my outdoor time was "peace time;" I taught swiftwater rescue and mountain rescue. We wanted all of our gear as high-vis as possible to aid in not losing our gear, being seen by other teammates, and not getting shot by hunters who used the same forests as us whitewater kayakers! Honestly, we never used 550 cord (we never called it para-cord) for anything other than tie-downs around the camp or for gear. We typically used nothing smaller than 6mm for whitewater rescue up to 10mm for climbing. So, my experience with 550 is just as an accessory cord.

When my brother and I were out together, it was always funny to look at the contrast in our gear. Hi-vis vs. od/black. He wasn't a "mall ninja," just what he was comfortable with that scheme due to experience. All joking aside, my mall-ninja comment was definitely tongue-in-cheek with the additional "Dork Ops" aside about deanimation. :D I should have put the "mall-ninja" and "deanimation" in the same sentence for the desired effect; I'll admit it didn't sound right by itself.
