Reforming Kydex? For a different knife?

Long story short, I have a lot of redundant knives, and I have made leather sheaths for many of them. As such, I have some very good Kydex sheaths with nothing in them. I'd like to put together Kydex for one of my Mora Companions.

Can you re-heat and re-form Kydex? Should I take it apart or just heat it up as is and push the new knife in and press form around it?

Anybody done this? I am not set up for Kydex work but this would be up my alley...tools and material wise.

If you heat it eyelets and all, the holes are gonna deform and it's gonna suck. If you take the eyelets out first you're still gonna have to re-drill and set new ones. My suggestion would be to sell or trade the sheaths to get the basic materials to start with. Your idea will work to a degree if you just heat the knife area very carefully and hand fit it, but it's not gonna be as good as just starting from scratch.

That's why I asked. I will not proceed with that hair-brained idea. I'd hate to ruin a nice Kydex sheath...and these of which I speak are very nice...just extra. Thanks for the reply and the advice. QB
