Yep, we are expecting some crazy winter weather of freezing rain and snow, and the freezing rain started earlier than expected. It was announced early yesterday evening that schools would be closed today, and electric company trucks were dispatched to strategic locations. Perfect excuse to sleep in today. Yet at 8 o'clock my eyes pop open, and a little voice inside says "hey it's Friday, what if today is the day?" And so Friday begins... :)

Man...I've been quiet here for a few months; there's been some pretty wild family issues happening that have kept me away from the computer and have kept my wallet firmly closed. Yet, despite knowing that I can't really contribute much to this forum right now, and that I don't generally have the funds to support Fiddleback with a purchase at this point, I still can not help but pull up a seat for the Friday show.

This is one of the highlights of my week and I absolutely can't wait to see what's coming up today. The tapered tangs have had me drooling...Fiddleback's work just seems to get better and better with every batch. To say I'm impressed would be a gross understatement.

Who knows...maybe I'll see that perfect Tuxedo config Hunter or Bushfinger I've been waiting for. Maybe it'll be the week I'm just going to say "to hell with it" and give my Visa another workout  With all of the outstanding knives Fiddlback has on offer it is so hard to pass on purchasing something week after week, but the "suffering" sure is worth the show. So happy to be able to see a true crafstman hone their craft in real time like this: it is a pleasure and an honor, and I will be glad to join you all in pulling up a seat for what is the greatest show on Bladeforums, IMO :)

Good luck with the purchasing all.

EDIT: This is unrelated but I thought it might pump up the hype for todays sale, so I will add it. In the financial woes that have befallen me recently I have had to sell off a lot of my luxury possesions. At this point I have sold every single knife I own (minus a few cheap folders in my tool box and tackel boxes) EXCEPT the Fiddlebacks I have purchased on this forum. So, my knife collection has effectively shrunk to nothing but Fiddlebacks and I couldn't be happier about that. Can't wait until I can add some more. I don't have as much experience as many of you (I didn't really have any knife worth morth than $50 before buying my first Fiddleback) but I feel pretty confident in saying that anyone would be hard pressed to find a better feeling, more functional piece of knife/art than a Fiddleback!

Even if you're not prepared to make a move on a knife this Friday, its still fun to show up and see what Andys come up with and see if Mist finally gets what he's after haha

Pveiled, I feel your pain man. I had some major family stuff go down at the end of the year, and some other major expenses just before that really hurt financially. So, my money situation hasn't been the greatest either...or even what could be considered remotely good. I have also sold off a lot of non essential knives lately. The only ones I am holding onto are some knives that are important pieces for some of my work, a couple of grails, and a few made by friends, one of whom is Andy. My Fiddlebacks are among my prized possessions and will only ever be sold as a last resort...or to buy another Fiddleback I can't resist but can not afford at the moment. I have been waiting on his tapered tangs to become more readily available since the first one I saw a few years ago when he only did them like once a year. Now, the want for one of his tapered tangs has become a need, (man sometimes I really love my work :) ) and I have spent months working out which one, and I have recently sold what were once grails to fund the purchase with no regrets at all.

Yep, this may just be the week. Ya know how sometimes people buy things impulsively and then have buyer's remorse? Well I'm still dealing with the remorse of, and am still kicking myself in the ass for, not buying this one when it popped up.

or this one when it popped up the next week.

But I was still doing color and background tests trying to decide what color handle I needed for the two projects I am starting. As it turns out I think either would have worked just fine. So...now, instead of being curled up in a warm bed as the partially frozen rain patters on the tin roof of my porch...here I sit waiting, wondering if this will be the week :)

Those were both gorgeous.. I got my first tapered tang FB a few weeks ago and the balance is perfect, just on your index finger when handling the knife. Best of luck today!

Oh indeed they were. I am just stressing over these two photographic projects and wanting them to be as close to perfect as I could get them. I will be working with various shades of greens and browns...with other brighter colors thrown in the mix. I can not afford to make a second purchase right now if I get the color wrong...so I have done tests with every color I have. I need something that doesn't reflect a lot of light but still contrasts with a natural environment background and doesn't disappear into it. In the end I realized either of these two, or some color of similar darkness, but not green, would have worked just fine. Thanks man, luck may be needed...I may have missed my shot for a bit lol.

So.....does anybody else check Andy's photo host account to see if he has uploaded the new images and then FREAK OUT and come back here and check if you missed anything???

Hey Brian, we've got the same weather on this side of the hill and it ain't purty. Been running outside gluing leather and then back here to warm the fingers while waiting for this weeks batch.

Care to elaborate? :)

I am so incredibly impatient when it comes to Fiddleback Fridays!!! I think I have a problem.

Usually I have no real troubles with patience...but today is being a bit different...

I think it is safe to say... You are not alone....

Definitely not alone!

You guys are addicts haha, Andy will have to start hiding his pics on friday mornings :P

I'm actually going to work late today so I can see this batch lol!
It's only 9am my time though, and I'm the boss...
These knives are friggin addicting man.

Well, at least I can say this is a much healthier addiction than most!! These are tools that deserve our constant attention in the great of outdoors! Between that and the fact that Andy keeps one-upping his own talent level each week...who can blame us!?

I'm here...doing the same. Wondering if I can get the purchase approved if what I want pops up. :)

Yep, cold and wet here man, was just outside looking up at the mountains and thinking about hitting them later today...(after the batch of course :) ) with the little one. Stay safe and stay warm!

Hush, I was just about to learn something :p

It does help when you get to set your own hours, when I get a late start...I just work longer to make up the difference in time :)

Exactly, definitely a much healthier addiction than most, and I still have something to show for the money spent years after the fact. And yes...his constantly stepping up his game is something that's hard to resist!
