I need a total refurb (reanodize the handles and polish/sharpen the blade to look factory new) of my BM 940 and I would like a boron coating applied to the blade. I e-mailed BM about this but I thought I'd ask if anybody knows if BM does refurbs. I know they do resharpening. Also if they don't do it, who does. BTW this knife was a gift from my wife, otherwise I wouldn't go through the trouble and I would just buy a new one.

You will have to go outside benchmade for anything other than "structural" or manufacturing defect, lock wear, blade play e.t.c.

And what I am wodering is if you go outside for help liek you have to you are obviously going to be voiding the warranty by disassembly. However, if it is put together correctly who will ever know if you do have to send it back to BM one day right? That isn't fraud in any way is it?

I believe Body Cote holds the patent in the boron coating process and they are the only ones doing it. Maybe if it proves to be very successful, they might license it out to others at some point in the future.
