Here's some before and after photos of an old 112 I sent in to have cleaned up and rebladed. I'm very happy with the job that was done. It went in with my Bucklocks last Monday and came back today!

Nice looking 112. Looks like the one I sent in except my blade was shorter, and the one I received back looks like yours. Amazing, those buck guys. Great photo also.

I like taking beater 110s, LB7s, etc. and bringing them back to life with some Mother's Mag Wheel polish. I can get 'em looking pretty nice, but nothing like the brass on your 112.

That's really something, looks like a new knife! Only Buck would do that for their customers. The only knives I'm ever gonna buy is Buck!

I bought a 112 in the dollar box at the flea market. Sent it in to Buck when they were still doing blade upgrades. Paid $30.00 and postage for a BG-42 blade and a handle refurbishing. Wish I could pull that off more often.

Looks great Plum, hate to compete with you though. See similar thread "Thanks Joe"

Looks great Dave, its to bad they took the old blade off and gave you a new one... ITE ...

OH, you had a stubby Blade... It's a good thing you got a new blade... The knfe looks great... They always do a great job at buck... ...

I asked for a new blade. I saw no sense in having a stubby blade that had a point that was above the blade channel.

I got one too Plum, '88, gonna do the same thing. Really like the macassar ebony. Hate to get rid of the 425mod but I keep sticking my finger in the point.

Great job by Buck. The scales really look good. Love that dark wood. Reblading was the only option if you wanted to carry it. Great job by Buck (cannot say it enough).

That really looks great Dave. I can't tell it from a new one. What other
company would do this????????????????????
Regards Sonny

IMO 420HC is just as good as 425M. Anyone who can tell the difference from normal use is an alien from outer space. :D

Wolf,

Nanu nanu:p Understood, its not about the performance, its more about the accumulating-I have no 425mod knives other than this one. I really like the wood, its very smooth, almost velvety to the touch and the bolsters, based on these pics and the ones I just got back can be cleaned up mint. It would be worth keeping safe if an oe 425mod blade could be installed but since it cant, it'll be a favored user:)

My sense of humor is sort of different . But Wolf said, "only an alien from outer space would know the difference between 420 and 425M steel" ... Back in 1970-71 there was a TV show, Mork and Mendy . It was about a alien that landed on Earth and stumbled into this girl and she taught him about earthlings and he (the alien) was continually using that line "Nan-u, nan-u for his language . Sorry not everyone saw that show . As I was playing off Wolf's words . A satire . DM

I got it David. :D Mork was played by Robin Williams if I remember right.

It would have been cool to have the old blade, but I'd rather have a new 420HC blade than a broken and reshaped anything. I really don't use any knife hard enough to benefit from any super steel.

Wolf,

This I understand. I too have tried to get examples of all the steels Buck has used.

Nan-U, nan-u . DM

I thought it was from some movie or show. Then I looked it up on wikipedia and found the reference. :)

Truthfully, I haven't used 425M much, just have it on a few collectors knives. But when I have used it I thought it was similar to 420HC, perhaps a tad better. My users are S30V, so I place 420HC and 425M in the same class, but that's just me, not science. :)

I missed your post DM-didnt realize I was plagerizing:o I thought I was being quick-about 8 hours behind:p Shoulda said shazbot:)

That show was on right in the wheelhouse of my youth

That BG-42 bladed 112 is a really rare Buck! If I remember right there were only 100 or so ever made.. and Joe was behind that project..That was before I started collecting 112's but it is sure on my list to add to my rare/odd/1of1/prototype collection..The ONLY one I have seen for sale was $125.00 at the Gator show a few years ago.I put them in the same class as the Custom Shop 112's made in 2009..Since they were not a regular issue dealers did not end up with most of them and they seldom come up for sale...I am hoping to find one in stag or some other type of fancy horn or wood...
