Refurbishing

I emailed BM and asked how much it would cost to refurbish my 42. $60.00/hour plus parts is too much for me. What kind of sand paper grits and in what order should I use them to take out some nicks on the handles and blade?

I think the Shop Talk forum would be a better place to ask, although you might want to search for information about polishing, first. There have been a lot of threads about polishing, both steel and Ti.
