Can anyone tell me the differences between the Reg and Classic Large Sebenza's and also which one you prefer and why?

You see I'm toying with the idea of getting one, but with the sort of money they are I wouldn't want to make a smistake... so the more info and opinions of Sebbie owners I can get, the better.

Cheers,

Tony.

Well, I got both a classic and a regular sebenza. Main difference is the blade and handle profile. The classic is has a pointier blade style whereas the regular blade has more belly. But the differences are really subtle - my non-knife buddies cant tell them apart until I point them out. Sorry, that was pretty vague, I know, and not as good as a picture.

I may have a pic of the two side by side in my old PC - gotta see if i can dig it out but you may get a quicker visual by posting your request to the Chris Reeve forum in the Manufacturer's Section of Bladeforums. All the Sebenza-holics flock there :)

Never regreted buying the Sebenzas and personally I prefer the classic blade style.

The shape of the scales is also different.
I have large fingers and it is easier to open the Classic because there is a larger cut-out in the titanium scale. This small difference in the scale makes a huge difference when opening the knife, at least to me.
I have both a large and small classic and love them. I sold my regular because it was more difficult to open.

It basically comes down to personal preference when choosing between the classic or regular style. I've had both and the classic just felt better in my hand. Also, I liked the slightly pointier blade. If you can, try to compare both side by side and then choose the one you like more. Either way, you'll be getting an excellent knife.

Thanks Andrew,

Seeing the two Sebies together helped a lot.

Unfortunatley I live in the UK where we have only one imporer of Chris Reeve Knives and they are miles away from me, so handling the two knives is very difficult. However next year I believe they are having a stand at one of the meetings at Bisley (our shooting mecca)so I'll see if I can have a good look at them there and make my choice.

Thanks again,

Tony.

Anytime.

The best part about having hobbies (my wife pronounces it obsessions) is sharing it with other folks.

I missed out on Bisley when i was in studying in the UK in '89 and '90 (University of East London). Went to all the museums and visited Anfield so it was a good time.
