I already have 2 of the lawmen with the steel liners, and I love them. They are rock solid and I couldn't imagine anything being better, so the new lawmans without the liners confuse me.

Are the new ones without liners just as tough? Do they "give" when gripping the knife hard? I just can't imagine that they would still be rock solid after removing the liners, but I hope they are.

Its still very strong and not flexible in any way, makes the knife feel very light in hand though.

The new Lawmen are just as solid as the previous ones. With the liners removed, the knife's weight decreases by about two ounces or so. Makes it much more comfortable to carry and use.

In case you don't know who that is in the video - That is Andrew Demko, the designer of the Tri-Ad lock. He makes custom knives and is working with Cold Steel now. I've never met him face to face, but he does not appear to be a puny guy, he looks like he knows where the gym is.

I've never had a problem with the Valox (or whatever it is) grips on my Voyagers (or the locks for that matter). That thermoplastic is extremely tough stuff. In addition to being light, it works great in very cold weather, too, as it doesn't freeze to your skin.

I don't care what anyone has to say about cold steel, that right there is impressive.

It is an unbelievably strong knife.

I have the new Recon 1 and the lock up blows away everything else I own.
Absolutely no side to side or up/down play , easy deployment and great ergonomics. I have been considering the Lawman as the R1 is a pretty big folder to EDC and the Lawman would be easier to carry.
As long as you keep the lock well clean ( as on all folders) your good to go.

of all the triad lock folders, i think it is best executed on the lawman and the recon.

the linerless version of the lawman is plenty strong, and far easier to disassemble and maintain.

however, i prefer the lined versions, and the first gen with the jimped spine and larger choil is my favorite. i like the extra weight and thickness. ive also attached both clips, which i couldn't really do with the unlined version. it is more difficult to take apart, but the first is still the best.

my only gripe, and its a minor one, is the aggressiveness of the g10, which i think feels like 220 grit paper and will tear up your pockets. but easily solved, i just sand them when they're new.

I like both my older, lined American Lawman and the new, unlined Recon Tanto. The Recon has a more neutral balance so that seems like a benefit. I'd be curious to handle the newer Lawman but they don't stock it at my local knife shop.
