Since the subject has cropped up on this forum in another thread, I would like to make some remarks that I hope will answer a few questions in advance of any additional threads or inquiries being posted about this matter.

Suffice it to say, the release of this article greatly disappoints all of us at ATC for a number of obvious reasons that have been discussed on this forum and elsewhere, at length. They do not need to be revisited.

I have personally spoken to Steven Dick, Michael Janich, and our attorneys about this article. It is ATC's assessment that the article falsely adds credibility to many of the claims made by the Hayses within the context of the ongoing legal action in Federal court between our companies, which in many respects are a reiteration of the claims they originally made here at BladeForums.com in early 2002. Many of you were privy to those threads and know the situation.

Michael Janich is a professional in our industry with what I feel is a well deserved and an excellent reputation. He continues to have my respect and admiration, despite this article. However, in no way does the article change its subject's relevant history, just as the article does not change Michael’s solid background and qualifications as an author.

I knew that this story was slated for release in TK at this year's Shot Show. At the time, I suggested to TK's editor that the lawsuit be allowed to conclude before releasing an article that would create problems on a variety of fronts and complicate ongoing legal matters. In this way, the dispute would have had closure to the industry's satisfaction and its outcome would have either substantiated or refuted the Hayses claims.

While ATC's position on the entire affair is no secret, at minimum, I thought this was a fair proposal that would allow TK the neutrality it so desired regarding this dispute. TK's position in my view is impossibly neutral at this juncture, due to this article.

As a result, appropriate actions have been taken to notify Harris Publications and its relevant personnel of ATC's assessment in terms of this article’s repercussions. The LaGana family is also involved in issuing those notifications.

Should anyone be interested in sharing their perceptions of this article via e-mail to me at andy@americantomahawk.com, I would welcome those comments and advance them to our attorneys for their edification.

Thanks and be well.

Firey E-mail inbound! Which I grant you 100% permission to use in any way shape or form ATC sees fit.

Sincerely
Jeremy

I was there at the beginning!

Andy, you remember when I was in your house in New Jersey when you first mentioned tomahawks to me. I was there when you told me about getting official permission to reproduce a series called "Roger's Rangers." I was also there with Peter LaGana's family and know that YOU have the rights to reproduce his designs. ATC has paid the LaGana family royalties. I was also there when the new handle material was discussed. These are ATC designs and work products stolen.

I am outraged at the TK article and will be communicating with you soon on the matter. You would think TK would have better sense than to get in the middle and choose sides. Maybe they should change their name from "Tactical Knives" to "Tactless Knockoffs."

Sorry if I offended anyone with TK, but you have to know in your heart what you did was wrong.

It's a LONNNNGGGG story and I am sure I don't know the half of it, but I recall Hays Knives saying that ATC and their tomahawks were exactly the same and that ATC used Hays to make the hawks and then did not give them the props...something like that...

It is a big ugly mess and the article only talks about how "realiable" and "useful" the Hays hawk are when the ATC hawks are, in fact, BETTER than the Hays hawks!

Like I said, I don't know the whole story and it is none of my buisness, but stick with ATC cuz the Hays hawks are made by a man who is in need of a reality check!!

They stole designs and ideas, they use individuals designs without permission, they have no class, no honor, and no ethics. Stick with Andy Prisco.
Andy wont say much about it right now as there is litigation ongoing.

If they read this and want to sue me, come and get me. I'm not hard to find.

You know as sad as this is it really does not shock me. Andy I am 100% on your side. TK is waytf out of line here.

Regards,

Tom Carey

ok...I see the drill... But hey Andy! No worry, everybody who have quiet a bit interest in tomahawks know where to buy his hawk...If a guy is fool enough to prefer a cold-steel hawk or a ATC copy made by Hays then let them learn by doing mistake!
As for my last hawk,I know where to order my next hawk and on the package it will be writed ATC on it!:D

Mr. Prisco,

Today I was browsing though my copy of Tactical Knives when I came across the article concerning Mr. Hays. What caught my eye were the pictures of tomahawks which bore a striking resemblance to the one that I have bet my life on a time or two overseas.

It was, I admit, a bit of a shock, as the article left me with the impression that during my absence the American Tomahawk Company was no more, and that Mr. Hays was now the maker of your tomahawks.

It is with great pleasure and some relief that I find your company is still in business and still making a first-class product.

Thank you, sir.

As for Tactical Knives, that particular magazine just became an expense I can well do without.

Rest assured that I will not be sending any money Mr. Hays' way.

With respect,
Ronin
