Hello to all of you.

Received my first Benchmade today(940) and I'm wondering if anyone here registers their knife with the manufacturer for the warranty?

It's more money than I ever thought I could bring myself to pay for a knife, and didn't know the upside/ downside to registering a knife?

Thanks to anyone that replies.

You don't need to register to have the warranty. As long as it's a Benchmade and something on it breaks due to use and not abuse, they will take care of it. I have used their warranty service, and they are just fantastic.

Also, if you plan on getting more knives... You'll be surprised at how much you'll spend on a knife.

I have LOTS of Benchmades and I have never registered them. If i send some in for warrenty service they are always taken care of.

Ditto. I've been buying Benchmades for years and have never had any issues with no registration vs. quality service.

If they didn't want it they wouldn't take the time and money to put it there. If you respect the awesomeness that is Benchmade do them the favor. Besides, you can do it online at their site in a minute. Just because they stand behind the product without it isn't reason to avoid it.

I like letting them know where one of their babies has ended up.

My attitude exactly with my new 940

We'll balance this conversation at 50/50 I see. I've owned nearly every catalog model since 2005, and did register my knives at first, thinking it would be a necessary step, but as time went on I found doing do was a waste of my time. Many of my knives were brand new back then, but as I began to build my collection across the years of BKC history many of these were/are second, maybe fourth hand in ownership. In all of this time I've never had an issue with recognition as the owner, and certainly have received the best of Customer Service's offerings with the many sent up for LifeSharp and/or Warranty Services.

If you guys feel the need to do that step just know it's not a requirement; but if it increases your joy and satisfaction I'm all for that. :o

I was going to help this old lady carry out her groceries, I used to help people, but I found doing so was a waste of my time. Hey, if you get joy and satisfaction from helping others I'm all for that! - totally being a smart behind here, nothing meant by this attempt at sarcasm.

To each is own. I am not saying there is any reason to or not to. I do get joy from it. People only do things they enjoy anyways. Speaking of joy, the 940 is awesome. It must bring an owner great joy. I am nearly positive it will be my next knife... in a year or two.

How about some pics or maybe even a review video??? :)
