Regrinding Spyderco blade?

I really like my Gunting, especially the handle size and configuration, and the kinetic opening ramp, but the blade length is still just a touch too long to be legal in some jurisdictions. I am thinking about having the blade reground to a shorter length, using either a regular PE Gunting, or a training drone. I know I could use a Dremel tool, but the result would probably be ugly, and I worry about spoiling the temper or heat treatment. I know the TUSOK is in developement, but it will have a smaller handle. Does anyone have any thoughts on this, or experience in this area? Would it be better to do this with CPM440V, or the GIN steel of the drone? Sal, would the company consider making a run of "Boston-legal" Guntings?

Hi Rex. We could probably do it, but I don't know what the charge would be. It you decide to send it to us, send it to Mike (Warrantee & Repair) and ask him to bring it to my attention. I don't think it would be wise to try to do it yourself with a dremel. CPM-440V is very hard to grind and too much heat will screw up the heat gtreat.
