Flatgrinder's post last month reminded me that I had planned to regrind my endura while I was visiting my folks for the holidays (all of my tools are at their house). Instead of a flat grind (which is my favorite grind), I wanted to maintain the strength of the saber grind but with better geometry. So here's my cannel(convex)-ground endura:
This was my first cannel grind ever and I think it came out pretty well. I didn't have time to rework the edge and remove the chips I put in it on newyears (used it to cut some steel wire, like an idiot), but this is a beater knife anyway. Eliminating the shoulders on the saber grind made a big difference in cutting ability — it even cuts through that plastic that electronics come in these days. I think I'm going to do this with my D4W and my E4W when I get it.
- Chris
p.s. I also reground the tip so it's pointier like the older enduras
