I just finished sharpening my reground Delica. I've had it going on 15 years and it was a gift, so I didn't want to just replace it. The edge had thickened over the years to about 0.04" at the top of the edge bevels on a 17 degree per side (dps) edge. To say the least, cutting ability was impaired.
Does anyone have a relatively new Delica they can measure to compare to the thickness behind the reground edge? With a 12 dps edge, this one now measures 0.015".
I also put a clip point on the tip to drop the point down toward the edge. I'd already ground the kick once to get the handle to cover the tip, so taking some off the spine seemed a good way to do it this time.
