well... as i thought that my persian steakknife could do without the persian part i tried regrinding it on my worksharp. it worked out okay, not perfect, there is still a bit leftover but okay.
of course this also required a new sheath... so it went from this

to this

also used two different methods/toolset for the stitching:

Now that's a nice improvement. Did ya get that sucker sharp? Usually I go with a polished edge, but on something like that I would stop at 400 grit, maybe even 220. I bet it's a machine now.

I very much like the modification and the new, more svelte, slip sheath is great. Just out of curiosity, how come you don't stamp the whole panel? I kinda like the sporadic stamping that you do in any case, but doing it myself would keep me from sleeping at night. :D

Dig the color, but that goes without saying.

Not sure why but I'm not being allowed to edit my posts. Sorry for the in line replies.

Are you a fan of rounded spines? That's one of the things that really drew me into Sebenzas. I adore rounded spines. That knife could be rounded all the way around from the tip to the edge. Knock off the square edges with the KO, then "shoeshine" with sandpaper until you have a nice final piece. I'd do it right away, but I'm a little picky once I get to modding. :)

hmmmm, rounded spines sound nice... only knife i have that has one is a ganzo sebenza clone with axis lock which was reground by a friend.
btw, the dye is the fiebing emerald green oil dye or whatever it is called. but i think you already knew that ;)

the sporadic stamping is something i kinda took a liking to recently. just experimenting with the possibilites of traditional stamps... and it makes it easier to cover your mistakes... that triangular shape is a pita to stamp over a whole area...

and yes, i finally got it sharp, some aggressive regrinding on the worksharp, then finer belts and finally stropping (i just got the stropping compound this week).
