Reground ZTs?

Hello all. I like the look and feel of Zero-Tolerance knives a lot-ergos, lock, toughness, but one thing that puts me off is the thick edge :( I know it's a compromise between cutting ability and strength, so anyone who has a reground ZT care to comment? If it's not a good idea I'll just continue hunting a Spyderco Manix:)
 
I de-recurved and convexed my ZT300 with great results as far as performance goes.
I had to thin it out after reprofiling it and a convex edge worked very nicely for that job.:):thumbup:
 
I don't know about the edges on the 200 & 300 series, but my 350 didn't need anything except a few strokes on my U/F Sharpmaker rods and a little stropping to pop hairs and filet thin (phone book pages) paper sheets. I've handled a couple of the other series and their edges seemed fine to me for stropping and making exceptionally sharp w/o having to regrind them.
 
I reprofiled my 0301 on my Edge Pro to a nice 15 degree (30 degree edge total) edge and it is working great.
 
Here's a nice Krein reground 0200. Good thin edge.

I didn't go that drastic on my 0500. I just reprofiled the edge to 30-degrees and polished it up on the 8k stone. It actually makes a good cutter.

man, care to share a full pic of that knife. The rescale looks very interesting. Or if you all ready posted it somewhere maybe a link to it? thanks


EDITED TO ADD: Looked in your sig, Nice work on all those knives! Being a guitarist I love me some figured wood. Good stuff.

I sent mine to Richard J and had him paper wheel sharpen it. It's not reground, but he got it hair popping sharp. Out the box it wouldn't shave hair cleanly.

Mine cuts like a laser, with no regrind. I've sharpened it to my standards, though...
