I am in the market for a new knife, a EDC that is tactical in the sense it has one hand opening and closing and a pocket clip, but traditional in looks. I would like a good steel and a 3-3.75 inch blade. Price is set at about 100 dollars. I strongly prefer American made as well.

thanks
Travis

Kershaw Leek (standard stainless model) fits this bill - though the blade will just barely make 3". The standard model is a stainless handled framelock offering fit, finish and functionality well above it's modest price. I also like the Benchmade Griptilian (standard size) or, it's Ritter RSK-1 variant.

I was in your situ-ation bout a year ago. I went here and did my homework here, and after much thought I went mini manix, It can not be beat for the price, the blade is cpms30v, same as a lot more higher dollor knives.

The Leek isn't the easiest to close one handed since it's a small frame lock and has assisted opening. You might check into Benchmade (American company) AXIS lock folders as they can be flipped open and closed by working the lock. It takes a bit of practice to get down. I can flip mine open and closed in a flash even when wearing work gloves.

I really like the BenchMade 707 Sequel. It replaced the 705, which I have and love:

(mine is the special edition above)

I love this knife and actually carry it more than my small sebenza (2000 inlay). I think the sebenza is a better knife, but a bit too pretty, and therefore I use the BM as more of a worker.

Anyway, personally I love the size and shape of the 707 and highly recommend.

Buck Strider with the ATS34/G10 combination. Great utility pattern blade, good looks, ergonomic handle, double choil offers different grips for a wider range of work.

Traditional? Well, that would be a Buck 110 to a lot of folks. No clip except the point. :D

Nice suggestions. I already have a 110, which is great but defintly lacks quick one hand O/C. Striders look nice, what is the difference in the cheap 50-70 dollar ones and the 125-200 dollar ones. Benchmades have always caught my eye. How is the steel on that 707?

Thanks
Travis
