Well I've decided to get a Vic brand SAK. It will be my first SAK. I was wondering if it is just a personal preferance thing between regular and locking blade or if one is better than the other ?

I can't remember all of the different styles that I was looking at but does the magnifying glass only come on the big ones. I wanted something like the Huntsman or the Camper or the Ranger. By the way I found the Ranger at Wal-mart but I can't find it an any Website. Not to say it was'nt there, I just could'nt find it.

What are your thoughts ?

The magnifying glass does come on many of the non-locking models.

I like the locking SAKs better, but the non-lockers are more compact, and generally have more crammed into a smaller space.

Good luck finding _just_ one that you like!! :D

Hey I found exactly what I was looking for at that quickknife site and their prices seemed good. How is their shipping and handling and tax. Is it really
high to make up for their low prices? Anybody know?

They're about average. If you want to know the final amount, checkout, but don't go through the last step. You should be able to get the ship amount after you've filled in your address. I've ordered from them before, no surprises.

actually i think vic should make all their sak to had a locking blade becos their backspring is so strong that it is very dangerous to yr fingers..... :barf:

or they change to use a weaker spring....

But isn't a stronger spring better, since it keeps the blade more stable in the open position? If you have your fingers in the way while closing, that can't be fixed. The only problem I have with strong backsprings is that I tear thumbnails trying to open implements sometimes.

Though I agree that SAKs should have locking blades, since they vastly safer to use, at least until they get outlawed everywhere because politicians don't like common folk to have fingers... :barf:
