I recently acquired this used, carried and sharpened Large Regular from a fellow forum member. I really wanted a user and when it arrived I was very pleased to see that that is exactly what I got. It had all the usual carry marks, had been sharpened a bit but I could still see some of the factory scratch pattern on the bevel.
I have given this treatment to Sebes in the past and decided to give this one a little makeover also. She was a little sticky coming out of lock-up so I resurfaced the blade/lockbar interface working the blade with 400grit, 600grit and then finished with Flitz. This resulted in a buttery smooth lock release and no change in lock-up percentage.
I then reground the bevel using diamond hones and finished with stropping using fine diamond compound on black walnut.
Next I resurfaced the screwheads using green scotchbright to get rid of that scratched up chrome look.
The slabs were also scotchbrighted and followed up with '0000' steel wool.
And now for the results:
