I recently acquired this used, carried and sharpened Large Regular from a fellow forum member. I really wanted a user and when it arrived I was very pleased to see that that is exactly what I got. It had all the usual carry marks, had been sharpened a bit but I could still see some of the factory scratch pattern on the bevel.
I have given this treatment to Sebes in the past and decided to give this one a little makeover also. She was a little sticky coming out of lock-up so I resurfaced the blade/lockbar interface working the blade with 400grit, 600grit and then finished with Flitz. This resulted in a buttery smooth lock release and no change in lock-up percentage.
I then reground the bevel using diamond hones and finished with stropping using fine diamond compound on black walnut.
Next I resurfaced the screwheads using green scotchbright to get rid of that scratched up chrome look.
The slabs were also scotchbrighted and followed up with '0000' steel wool.
And now for the results:

That looks great. Nice work!

She's a beaut to be sure but this picture messed with my eyes a bit! :p

Haha, just mess'n with your vision a little, or Chris is with his hollow grind. I couldn't resist that shot when I was looking at this thing from so many different angles, I thought it was cool to see the hollow grind, the geometry that makes it such a great slicer.

WATCH OUT! You'll put your eye out!

Great look'n Regular, by the way.

I just kept the camera in between me and that aggresive blade. Lol!
BTW, it was you,Dallas, that got me hooked on these Regulars so long ago.;)

That looks great. Nice work!

Thanks friend.

Great pictures. The more and more I handle my large regular it seems its becoming my favorite knife of them all.

Fantastic job I love the look!

could you go into some detail as to exactly how you resurface the blade/lockbar to make it not stick. my large reg sticks like crazy.

Very nice! It looks like my BG-42 'Scotchbrite' user. Mine is a bit duller in finish, as I only use #0000 steel wool without the Scotchbrite pad.

Turned out great!

I would gladly trade you for that 'P', anytime...Lol. Thanks so much.

I hear you 'reaper, it really is a great design all the way around.

Thanks JPR, I will PM you regarding the Lock.

I did a small 21 with just steel wool once, I liked it alot.

I sometimes really love the looks of that handle treatment. Yours looks great!

peppercorn my friend, this is the best looking scotchbrighted seb I've seen so far! great job
great photo too btw (the one gauging your eye out)

Beautiful Job.......I miss her already, definitely one of the nicest large regulars I have owned.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Zyhano, your video shot of the Hollow grind on your 21 inspired me to take the 'eye gauging' photo.

nyefmaker, thanks again friend.

VERY nice! The screwheads came out good, and match the finish on the blade...EXCELLENT!
