I have a few of the earlier regulars and the edges on the thumb stud are quite sharp. I had asked CRK to replace with new ones but they wont in case the blade gets damaged. Therefore, I am left to my own devices.

Anyone know a safe method they have used or know about how to very slightly round the sharp edges?

Planning to keep it forever? Carefully work it with a fine sharpmaker stone. Drop to the medium if you need to remove more material. Have you considered developing a callous instead?

I dont wanna major removal just a very very very tiny bit like superficial then again i might as u suggest just callous it a bit more.

Give it a shot with a fine spyderco ceramic rod and let us know how it turns out. Before/after macro shots would be nice.

For what it's worth I don't notice any of my regulars having specially sharp thumbstuds. What year is yours?

I have a small regular from D00. I was shocked at first at the "sharpness" of the rings on the stud, specifically the bottom of the top dome, and the center ring. I thought about dulling down the edges of the rings, but after getting a large reg from C97, I noticed how much easier the small reg was to open with the "sharp" stud. The Large reg , duller stud, wasn't an issue because of the size, but I decided that I liked the small the way it was and it might become harder to get your thumb to grab the stud with duller rings.
I have never cut my thumb on the stud, so it hasn't been and issue. I did notice, however, on some older jeans that had fraying in the pocket, the small stud has grabbed a few loose strings and almost opened when getting it out for use... I think I have picture somewhere because when I first received the knife I was about to post this same question...

Found it... doesn’t look bad, but you’d be shocked at how well it grabs the thumb. I decided I like it sharp.

Secure the knife with some clamp. Take precautions not to scratch it. Take sandpaper. Cut a thin, long strip of it. Put it around the thumbstud and just floss with it. I'd use 2000 grit, cuz that's all i have and used in the past.

I would venture a guess and say 1996-97 since it predates the date stamps.
