Hey guys, I recently picked up a small regular sebenza. Does anyone else have issues accessing the lock bar to unlock the blade? It doesn't seem like it's big enough, unless my thumb is just to big!..haha. Are the 21's bar easier to access? Thanks for the info in advance!!

I don't have an issue with my small sebenza concerning the lock bar. The large sebenza is more suited for those with large hands. In comparison they both have the same amount of cut out on the presentation side, so maybe the small is not suited for you.

This, bigger knife bigger relief I believe. If you want more room. I can make you a custom scale late next month with a bigger release. :)

I feel the size is perfect but just with the regular sebenza(with the jimping/grooves on the bottom/lock bar) but it seems as tho the lock bar on the 21 is much more exposed. Does anyone have both to compare?

Try using the tip of your thumb (even the nail a bit) instead of the fleshy part of your thumb - that works best for me.

Quite a bit more lock-bar exposed on the 21 as you can see:

...compared to the Regular:

Still, though, I never had a problem with either (with my medium to large hands)

Thanks for the help guys! I'm gonna keep working at this one to see if I can get used to it! I love the looks and feel of the regular but if I can't get the hang of it I'll prob try to swap it for a 21!

The 21 is the "crème de la crème" of releases for what it's worth in my small collection. I don't own a regular, but the 21 has the easiest release out of my early Umnum, and my 25. Those blades require a little more concentration and effort to release, while the 21 is a "no-brainer". It's kinda weird but the 21 in general is growing on me again. Maybe it is not the most popular in concept, or the most sought after of the CRK family, but I gotta say, I think there was some serious thought and inspiration that went into the design of 21. Like maybe is was the last large folder where Chris was trying to make a knife that was functionally perfect, rather than just new and different, or more appealing, if that makes any sense. I dunno, until I handle a regular, I suppose I can only guess, but I suspect I'm onto something with my love of these 'pedestrian' 21's.

Well guys, I appreciate all the comments but I don't think the regular is for me! I'm gonna let this one go and find a 21. I just listed the reg for sale if anyone is interested!

Here's a side by side comparison. Personally, while the 21 is easier to lock/unlock, I don't have any difficulty or discomfort opening or closing the regular.

I had a small regular for a few weeks earlier this year. I sold it because the knife wasn't big enough for my hand. I have big hands. I never had any trouble

disengaging the lockbar.

I think disengaging the lockbar is something you'll learn to do. It's not difficult.

No problems with the small regular sebenza. Even after owning and using it for the last 3 years, I still admire that knife. I have medium hands.

make sure your fingers are touching the pocket clip and your index finger is forward of the lock bar to easily open a small
