Okay, guys and gals, I've really been wondering which of these would be best for work, and also where can I find some in stock?

I imagine that the Regular would have better ergos, but when all that's available is the Classic, what can I do??? I REALLY want that first Sebbie asap!!

Thanks for your input.

Hi Shadow123,

Traditionally, the answer for most people depends on whether you are asking about the large or the small Sebenza. In my experience, the blade differences are minimal and either will work fine. The ergonomics of the handle though, are a different matter.

My opinion is that the classic is better in the small size due to the larger cutout for unlocking the blade. In the large size, the regular handles beat out the classic for me.

As far as finding regular Sebenzas, have you tried NewGraham? I think Michael just got a shipment of Sebenzas in stock, maybe you'll have some luck there.

Hope this helps,

Matthew

Thanks for the info, Starfish, I have contacted New Graham(talked to Tommy) but they didn't have any Large Regulars come in with this week's shipment. :( Right now, they really don't have an idea when they'll be getting new ones in.....

I have been looking for a Regular and just a moment ago, I found someone with a slightly 'used' one, that he had refurbished by CRK, and he's going to let me have it for $340!! :D

Just got to wait until Friday(payday) to get the rest of the cash that I need.....

I prefer the classic version simply due to the large cut out to disengage the frame lock. To me, that's great for my chubby thums and for those times when I may be wearing gloves while cutting something. NewGraham is one good place to the Sebbies besides CRK itself.

They are both nice, we had a poll once and it was about even. Either way they are both sebenzas and thats all that matters. Oh yeah , Dont plan on to much sleep while its in the mail, you will be tossing and turning like a kid on christmas eve waiting for it to get to you. I even payed 45.00 to have it over nighted cause i couldnt wait.

When I got my first one I thought I would like the reg better but I found out that I like the Classic large much better than the reg.I like the blade shape and the scale design better.I was used to EDCing the Military and the blade shape of the classic is more like the military plus the classic just feels better to me.
This will make you sick,I got my like new lg Bacote inlay claasic for 300.00 shipped and the guy had it up for sell for a few days with no takers.I think no one grabed it because of the desciption he had on it.It was stated as very well used.People must have thought he meant very used but he really meant very well cared for type of used.

For me it is very simple...

The Classic Sebenza is the elegant knife :

And the Regular is the workhorse :

Anyway, you can't go wrong with any Sebenza. There is nothing one is able to do the other can't !
;)

Thanks for the replies....

Although the Classic is beautiful, I'm after the workhorse. Thanks to a tip, I found that plazacutlery.com had SIX Large Regular Sebbies in stock, so after a couple of phone calls to ask questions and verify, they have a brand spanking new Large Reg Sebbie waiting to be sent out to me upon receiving payment on Friday morning, of course. :D :)

Although I will pay full price, plus about another $35 for overnight shipping :D, I will be getting a Sebenza that was born less than thirty days ago!!

You'll love it. I have been carrying mine pretty much since I got it. In fact every now and then when I am falling asleep, I say to myself, DANG IT! I didn't cut anything with it today!

At one time I owned two regular small Sebbies and was hooked on that design based largely on what I thought were better ergonomics but I've since changed my mind after having held/examined a small classic Sebbie. I now think if I ever get another Sebbie it will be a small classic. But as several have said you can't go wrong with a Sebbie no matter what the size, design or augmentation. ;)

I couldn't wait any longer so I ordered a Large Regular Sebbie yesterday from plazacutlery.com... :D I was so anxious that I also got the $35 UPS overnight shipping option so that I could get it asap.

Now it is 2:00 am and I can't sleep....have to make sure that I don't miss that brown truck.....LOL

It's both small and large Classics for me. The handle fits my hand better and unlocking is easier. I carry the small to work, the large after work and on the weekends.
