Has anyone done this? Any pics? I have a Double cut with standard, I love the knife, but I have big hands..I was chopping today and I want MAGS. I know I want mags because my other ASH has mags, and it feels great. Also, has anyone done a custom handle on an ASH, such as wood or some other cool substance. Gene

FEELING THE LOVE HERE:D

OK, let me ask this in a different manner, if I pull off the handle slabs, are they epoxied, are they gonna be hard to remove after I drill out the tubes? AND, after I get them off and ready to switch, where can I get the replacement tubes to re- attach them, does BUSSE sell them?
And if I want different color handles, can I buy them anywhere not attached to a knife?

The slabs are easy to remove. Just be very careful drilling the rivets and you won't harm the micarta at all. They are not epoxied. Since ASH1's are still available you could just sell the one you have and order DC/Magnum whatever and save yourself a bunch of work and expense. That said I do like the idea of doing one in a natural material like wood. Or even a natural micarta that has not been offered.

A couple guys here know what to look for for replacement tubes. Busse does not offer them.

Once you feel a hand-shaped handle on an ASH1 or a SFNO, you will realize their TRUE potential.

You can almost duplicate it by getting mags and then sanding them down. Still grippy but better hand-fitting. I find the diff between a mag's swells and valleys to be a bit extreme. But mags are nicer in the hand size-wize.

I had saved that link a while back with the same thought in mind.

I'm a big fan of stag and would DIE for a Busse with Sanbar...

Micarta is indestructible, but it has no soul like stag or wood does...

Keep us apprised of your project, maybe one day I will have the courage and wherewithal to drill the scales off of one of mine and replace them with something else!

I just have to find some tubing, and consider me switching! I will take pics of course! If I had known that the werent apoxied, I might have gotten drunk and done it already.
