hey all, can anybody give any advice on how to rehandle a hidden tang knife, is it too difficult for a beginner?
I just have basic hand tools, not looking for perfection just a nice looking sturdy handle. The blade is an old tramontina carbon steel bowie about 20 years old, originally had a hollow plastic stag type handle. Nothing fancy but its solid and i figured it would be a good project.
Tutorials, posts, etc.
thanks

Hidden tangs are easy. Find your handle material, cut it to length, drill it for the tang, shape it.

so the handle is held on with epoxy? can you recommend an epoxy to use? i'm new to all this, doing alot of reading before i start :)
thanks

Through tangs have a nut, or threaded pommel holding the handle on.
Stick tangs are held on woth epoxy. Any slow setting epoxy should work.

hopefully i'll have something to show in the near future:D
Not gonna be perfect but i'm hoping for a good solid handle, got my fingers crossed and everything...
thanks again
