I bought 4 old axe heads from a member awhile back and this is the only one that had no markings on it. I cleaned it up with apple vinegar and scotch brite. I sharpened it with a new cut file, bench stone, diamond stone and finally a ceramic stone. It took awhile the get the edge to where I liked it. The handle received 3 coats of clear Danish oil followed by a thin coat of varnish. It's a beast of an axe with the 5 pound head and Paul Bunyon handle.

It's a work horse all right. I'll see if I can get some action shots this weekend.

Here's what it looked like when I first got it. I cleaned it up but left all the battle scars. I think it's got a lot of character.

Mossy, Very nice. You did a nice job hanging her. She looks like a classic rafting axe pattern w/o the bevels on the poll. They make great splitting axes.

It should provide a good work out for sure. It's good steel that's definitely hardened. I'm very happy with the edge I was able to put on it.
