rehandling a kershaw/onion BOA?

i am thinking about replacing the aluminum scales on my boa with a natural material or micarta... i am wondering if the speedsafe mechanism will "pop" out when i remove the scales (and if so, how hard it is to put back in and also whether the SS mechanism is dependant on any milling inside the handle??
any other tips i will need for this job would be appreciated.

Nothing in there will fly out. Inside of the scale is cut out where the torsion bar moves in the up/down forward/back directions. If your scales turn out good I'd like a pair too!
