I got a nice custom but between the swedge and the strong spring I practically can't open it. It was a great deal so I decided to take it apart and try to remedy the issue. I reduced the spring thickness and the width of the liners. But the brass liners are very thick and I was going to drill some lightening holes in them, then decided to check here first, any reason I shouldn't do so? Thanks!

Seems like you have done quite a bit so far and are capable of continuing. Without seeing the knife apart I don’t see why you can’t go with making the knife lighter. Don’t go overboard as the liners make the knife more rigid. Wonder why thick liners were installed in the first place. Good luck with this project and let us know how It turns out.
