I think I have come up with some fair pricing for doing the rehandling of Buck 110`s and 112`s.

First off, I will not do any knives that have a special value or meaning to you. In other words, no collector models.

Pricing will be as follows:

If you supply the knife:

Canvas micarta (black, green, tan): $45
Black linen micarta: $45
Burgundy linen micarta: $50

G10
Orange: $50
Hot Pink: $50
Neon Toxic Green: $50
Red: $50
Jade Ghost Green: $50

If I supply the knife (110 only) add $37

Email or pm me for costs of various woods.

Very cool. I don't have a 110 and have been planning on picking one up. I will buy one and bring it to the Gathering, now to pick the material......

It looks like I will not be doing these. I received several emails saying this is way too much to charge. I guess that me making a whopping $25 for my time is too much.

john don't worry about what they say. just leave them with their plain old bucks :) 25 dollars isn't really much for your time and some people just don't understand that. they think everything should be cheap or free. i say leave it as a offered service and if people take advantage of it cool and if not no sweat off your back either way.

I still plan on doing one but I need to find a nickle bolster buck, hopefully soon. $50 didnt seem that high to me.

If someone thinks that the price is too high then they shouldn't have it done. I think there are some people that don't understand that if you take the materials, consumables (abrasives, cost of power and tools, shipping and other forms of direct overhead) into account that our favorite knife maker pulls in a rate that is just slightly over minimum wage for his time. I really don't think that John or most other makers are doing this to become rich, they do it for the love of creation and an art form that speaks to them and their inherent skills.

I think that the price is fair and maybe this is just not for everyone.

I don't think 50 is very high for this job. It is a very reasonable price to have a professional modifying and improving an already great knife.
