So I just ordered a Condor Barong and while I love the blade I intended to replace the slick poly handle which I am not a fan of. Not being a knifemaker but having some basic crafting skills I wondered what some of the simpler options might be?

Following amazon link shows another guys barong tang pics with handle removed about half way down the reviews list.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Not selling on Amazon.
Moved to Maintenance etc.

I'm not even sure what your reply means. I quoted the link since one of the reviewers has pics of a barong with the handle off, the only one I could find on the internet, and there is no direct link to the pics.

At least construct a full sentence with some verbs and phrases in the explanation so I can understand what has occurred.

Hi,
if slick is the only problem, tape it up?

If making your own A Check-List for Handle Design

another hint, Alt+Tools -> "Page Info" then "Media" tab

Same here. Absolutely loved their barong but hated the handle. I don't do plastic handles in general.
I've actually had two of 'em at two different times. Wound up selling them since they weren't being used because I was lazy and never got around to working on the handles.

Anywho, I agree with bucketstove: if it's just an issue with slickness, then a cordage or tape wrap of some kind is probably what you want.
I thought the handle was too round as well, so I had planned on trimming/filing/sanding down the sides of the handle to help with twisting it hand (I was going for a more typical machete handle - just thicker), and then applying a tennis racket tape wrap.
My current plan is to pick one up again one day and remove the handle entirely, strip the black coating, shape the tang if I need to, and make and install a wooden handle.

Hope that helps!
