Hi guys,
I have always considered victorinox knives a good all around knife, much like a stockman pattern knife, but I never could bring myself to love the red plastic like sawcut derlin, wood, or bone. So I re-handled my tinker and my other (not sure of the model. Yesterday I set out and re-handled these babies, the first (tinker with walnut) has many flaws, and eventually will re-handle my re-handle. but my second attempt (2 blade with mulberry) turned out pretty good. the mulberry was a piece of log I got from a guy who was cutting down a dead mulberry tree. It has been in the garage for about a month or two. I split it yesterday with wedges and a bif splinter broke off. Dad said it was too small to do anything with. But it looked O.K to me so I squared it and evened it up on the beltsander. It worked out great. All inletting was done with a dremel and they were atached with Devcon epoxy. I took pics all the way through the process, someday i'll get around to making a document with them all.

Looks nice! I remember I re-handled my first SAK in the early 80's (when I was still new to making knives, forging my own blades on an old sears and roebuck farmers forge from 1902, etc.).

I had dropped it in a neighbors yard (a couple years before) and his lawnmower eventually found it! The handles were destoyed. it was a wonder the knife wasnt also!! He later spoke about it and we figured out it was my huntsman sak. So I re-handled it in osage. Later I rehandled some in bone, horn, stag, walnut, cedar (which I had to laminate because of its soft properties), etc.

SAK's are fun to rehandle and very simple to do. You might try using the duro two-ton waterproof epoxy, it works really well (allot more durable), and its about $2.00 at wally world.

They both look good, keep it up!!!

rev,
Thanks for the reply and compliment. I like the Devcon 2 ton 2 part epoxy, it has always worked well for me when mixed properly.

I Was digging around this morning and stumbled upon an old vic. 2 blade (the one with a skinny blade and a fingernail file) I never liked them, but I figured what the hey. I took it ou to the garage, poped the handles off, and traced them onto a scrap splinter of walnut, this is what it came out to be.

It will be an Easter gift for my mother, she don't like a big knife, just something to clean her nails with. I think she oughtta like it
