I have refurbished a True Temper Flint Edge 2.25 pound and I am ready to rehang it.

Does anyone have a picture of the handle that would have come with this head? It looks to be a standard Boys Axe (Dayton Pattern):

I will show finished pictures in a while - but I want to hand the head properly.

I have this handle for it right now:

It is the right length for this type of head - but the eye on the Flint Edge is a bit smaller. Nothing the rasp can't take care of.

Anyway - any advice for an authentic head pattern for this axe head?

Thanks,

TF

yep, that's what I've used, three times. i go for "hand selected" and no laquer finish

The original handle likely would have looked like the handle on the top axe in this photo.

That's a vintage Craftsman boy's axe with it's original handle. On the old handles the fawns foot was left pointed. Now they come sawn off flat like the 2nd axe. Note the 2nd axe has a smaller sized fawns foot. That's why it needed the friction tape - to keep the thing in hand. I like the vintage handle much better.

Thanks Square - the Fawn's foot on the handle I have from it, linked in the OP has a large Fawns foot.

Looks like me and the 4 in hand have some quality time ahead of us this week! ;)

I've got one of those. You'll love it

I put mine on a nice House Handle that is pretty much identical to the handle on my Council Tool boys axe.

House Handle - set low on the shoulder - quite a bit taken off the shoulder and the fawn's foot.
