Some of my first 1084 knives that I heat treated in a backyard hibachi dented pretty badly after I tempered them and struck them against a piece of plywood. I just got a hold of an Evenheat kiln and decided I'd normalize the knives before heat treating them again. I've brought them to 1600 and let them air cool. While they were cooling, I thought I'd research a bit more to make sure they were done properly before making the final bevel. Now I'm not sure whether the knives need additional normalization, annealing, or what. Can anyone make a suggestion?

Just go ahead and do the HT.

Heat to 1500F and hold for 5 minutes, then quench in fast oil ( Parks #50)
